LOL! Only kidding. I have been so bad about following up on this. It has been on my "to do" pile forever. Must get to it.Andrea Kelleherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12711352023496985469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5454603795410144652.post-14172283633576071542015-01-29T09:06:26.192-08:002015-01-29T09:06:26.192-08:00I don't think schools were segregated in new Y...I don't think schools were segregated in new York City so they should have gone to the nearest schools. Maybe you can find the district they live in. Maybe you've already done, since I notice this is over a year old! My 3rd daughter was born in a parking lot, if you go by present day google. :OKristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06413795611563683135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5454603795410144652.post-21958319292343960352013-06-19T10:04:53.019-07:002013-06-19T10:04:53.019-07:00Excellent genealogical sleuthing! And now she has a daughter, Hilda -- twice as easy to search that combination! Congratulations big time. And a simple spelling change from Dixon to Dickson, but a little thing like that can really trip up a researcher. I'll bet you will find out where Ethel and Edna went to school.

Those genealogists who don't have ADD must have OCD, I think (like me). Both kinds of talents (some call them disorders, but I don't think so) are valuable in tracking down ancestors: spontaneous inspiration, or dogged pursuit. Congratulations again.Mariannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09543003593158696611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5454603795410144652.post-71153467991919368662013-06-15T16:53:47.722-07:002013-06-15T16:53:47.722-07:00Love those state census records--when you can find...Love those state census records--when you can find them. Good point about the spelling variations. Sometimes, you gotta wonder what those census takers were thinking, with all the wild spelling variations that can pop up, but at least Dixon to Dickson isn't too much of a stretch!Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5454603795410144652.post-73632691709090577882013-06-14T14:57:33.751-07:002013-06-14T14:57:33.751-07:00Playing around with those search filters can do wo...Playing around with those search filters can do wonders! I use all the search filters under name too- since then it picks up all kinds of spelling errors, esp. when used with a wild card! The parking lot pic is great!LOL! have yu tried to track down a Jamaican Dixon in the area in 1920? Loved reading your blog as always! :) Rachel Starrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16470344574432048196noreply@blogger.com
