And what a coincidence. Aortic valve regurgitation is exactly what my husband had. With him it came on gradually, I believe, and finally in 2001 he had big open-heart surgery and was cured. I'm not sure they were doing this surgery in the early 1900s. I believe that some people are born with this tendency -- like, they have two flaps on their valve instead of three. I don't know if there is a DNA predictor or not.<br /><br />So Fred would be . . . your first cousin twice removed?
